Stab-in Casing Float Collar And Float Shoe API or As required
The technique known as the Stab-In Float Collar and Shoe represents a highly developed approach used for cementing large diameter casings during drilling operations. This process involves directly inserting the drill pipe into either the float shoe or collar, and injecting cement through the drill pipe until it reaches the surface. A wiper dart is sometimes used to ensure that the cement is correctly positioned, as it helps to displace the cement to the bottom of the drill pipe. Once this step is completed, the drill pipe is lifted, circulated to achieve uniform cement distribution, and then ultimately removed from the hole.
It is important to highlight that when employing the stab-in float collar and shoe technique, large plugs are necessary to separate the cement from the mud. These plugs need to be drilled out together with any cement present in the casing. This particular technique is specifically designed for cementing large diameter casings that are lowered using drill pipes. Given the significant volume displacement associated with these substantial casings, special considerations must be taken into account during the cementing process.

- Improve displacement accuracy — cement mixing and pumping continues until cement returns reach surface
- Get better cement quality — the reduced cement/mud interface area and high velocity of flow in the Drill
- Pipe Minimize cement contamination while the short pumping time eliminates the need for cement retarders
- Reduce cement volume — conventional displacement requires calculation of excess cement factor, whereas with Stab-in methods excess cement need be no greater than the volume of the drill pipe. No large plugs are needed
- Reduce net rig time — circulating, pumping, and drill-out times are minimized
- Protect casing — cementing pressures are confined to the drill pipe as in a squeeze job
- The Stab-in cementing equipment is available in size 4-1/2”-36”
- The Stab-in cement Float Shoe & Collar are also available with Double Valve and any combination.
